Hamer SP2-F CS Slammer Reviews 5

I got it at Music Mac Hawaii for $289.

It's made from good woods. It has lots of gain from the pickups, and a good range of sound.

The neck had a tendency to pop, but it's nothing that a screwdriver won't fix. Just tighten the neck screws.

This is an excellent guitar by any standards. It sports a flamed maple top with a transparent cherry sunburst finish that is killer. It's patterned after the LP, but has a cutaway that moves more away from the neck allowing better wrist access for less hand tension. It's got a maple back and a bird's eye maple neck with a rosewood fingerboard. The pickups are very high gain especially on the low side. In fact, you may want to drop the low side of the bridge pickup like I did. It's got the vintage warm Jazz sound of the LP's for a great price. The body is a thinner design which makes it a much better touring guitar than the LP, unless you want a Quasimodo shoulder.

There is nothing that I don't like about this guitar. Out of all of my guitars, this one has to be a very close second as my favorite.
